Biometric recognition – Towards personalised interaction

What if access to your car no longer relied on a key, card or smartphone, but simply on… yourself? Today’s automotive industry is exploring multiple applications of biometrics: facial recognition, already tested by several manufacturers, allows doors to be unlocked simply by approaching the vehicle; fingerprint recognition, via a fingerprint sensor, offers a discreet and secure alternative. These systems extend and improve on the keyless devices that appeared in the 2000s, adding an advanced authentication dimension that enhances protection against theft while simplifying everyday use.
